In an architecture competition the community of St. Moritz was looking for a project for a direct connection for pedestrians between the village and the lake which could be realized together with the construction of the new multistorey car park. The office of Küchel Architects was successful with the idea of a linear access axis with the starting and ending point above the lake. The exit from the underground car park leads through an opening in the slope and gives the visitors a great perspective on the scenery opposite which gets wider and wider with every step on the bridge. The sculptural shape of the bridge has been executed as a reinforced concrete construction, whereas the tower with the elevator as well as the stairs serve as weight-bearing elements. The overall view appears light and filigree in order to give a totally free view of nature.
